What your child actually gets

An assessment that establishes why your child is struggling, a profile that measures it, and a plan the whole family — and their school — can act on.

We are not trying to change your child. We are trying to make everyone around them understand who they are — their needs, their strengths and their difficulties — so their brain can develop in the most positive way possible.

Your child's profile

Most services give you a label. We give you a map.

After the assessment you receive a profile of your child measured area by area — how they move, how they use their hands, how they listen and attend, how they speak, how much they understand, how they play, how they manage their feelings, how they look after themselves, and how they read the world and the people in it.

Each area is given in developmental months, not a grade and not a percentage. So instead of “delayed”, you learn that your child's understanding is at three years while their speaking is at two — which is a completely different problem, with a completely different answer.

And because we measure the same way every time, the next assessment shows you the movement. Not an impression that things are better: a number of months gained in each area, on one graph, against where a child of their age would usually be.

Measured
Nine developmental areas, each scored in developmental months.
Compared
Every assessment is set against the previous one — the gain in months, per area, on a single graph.
Kept separate
Sensory sensitivity, behavioural difficulty and sleep are tracked on their own scale. A hard month never gets confused with development going backwards.
Strengths first
The report names what your child can already do before it names what is hard. In that order, deliberately.
Ability, not diagnosis
A diagnosis sits in its own section. The findings describe what your child does, not what they are called.
Written for you
A parent version in plain language, released when your clinician has been through it with you.

The plan

What to change, what to work on, and what to watch.

A profile that sits in a drawer helps nobody. Every profile ends in a plan, and every plan says three things: what to change around your child, what to work on with them, and what to keep an eye on.

The activities in it are chosen for where your child actually is — not for their age, and not from a standard package. If their listening is at two and a half years, they get the activity built for two and a half years, even if they are six. Every recommendation is approved by the clinician who assessed them before it reaches you.

Five priorities come first, because a plan with twenty things on it is a plan nobody does.

Matched to level
Each activity is targeted at the area and the developmental band the assessment found.
Clinician-approved
Nothing is auto-generated to you. A clinician approves each recommendation.
Prioritised
Five things to start with, the rest listed underneath.
Rewritten as they grow
Reassessment on a schedule, and the plan changes with the child. What a four-year-old needs is not what a nine-year-old needs.

BrainSprout

The part your child actually enjoys.

BrainSprout is our learning portal for children aged 1 to 16. It opens in a browser on whatever device you already have, and to your child it is simply a set of games.

Underneath, every game is finding their level and moving with them — harder when they are ready, easier when they are not — so a child is never bored and never defeated. They are never shown a score. They see a round, a hint if they want one, and the next thing to try. A child who is never told they are behind does not learn to believe it.

And because the games measure while they play, what your child does in them feeds back into their profile as real evidence — reviewed by a clinician, never scored automatically. Practice and measurement become the same activity, which is why children will do it.

Reading
Letter sounds, blending, segmenting, syllables, word families, prefixes and suffixes, sight-word fluency, letter formation, and comprehension — including inference, main idea and sequencing.
Maths
Number sense and place value, arithmetic, fractions and percentages, shape and measure, data and statistics, ratio and proportion, and early algebra.
Science
The living world and the body, materials and their properties, chemistry, forces and energy, and Earth and space.
Writing
Spelling, and punctuation and grammar.
Thinking
Working memory, reasoning and problem-solving, and processing speed — the underlying skills that make everything else at school possible.
Ages 1 to 16
The difficulty is found per child rather than set by year group, and it runs in a browser on the family's own device. Early Years needs no reading at all.

The MyGeniusLane app

The clinic, between appointments.

Most of a child's development happens on the ordinary days between appointments. The app is how we are with you on those days, and your clinician sets your family up with it as part of the programme.

It carries your child's plan and their reports, the activities and videos recommended for them, your appointments, your messages to the team, your video consultations, the documents you need to send us, and your payments — in one place, on your phone.

It also has two assistants. One handles the everyday running of things: when your report will be ready, moving an appointment, what you still need to upload, a question about a bill. The other is a care navigator that knows your child's plan and journey, and can explain what a recommendation means and what usually comes next.

We have been deliberate about what they will not do. Neither assistant takes a payment, makes a clinical decision, or interprets your child's results. They are labelled on screen as what they are, and a human confirms anything that matters. An AI that answers a parent at ten at night is useful; an AI that quietly practises medicine is not, and we built ours so it cannot.

Your child
Profile, assessments, reports and the care plan — released to you when the clinician shares them.
What to do
The recommended activities and videos for your child, at their level.
Appointments
Booking, reminders, and video consultations from inside the app.
Staying in touch
Messages to the team, weekly check-ins, and document uploads.
Two assistants
An everyday assistant for the practical things, and a care navigator grounded in your child's own plan.
Bounded by design
No payments taken, no clinical decisions, no interpreting results — a human confirms every action.

School and professional support

Because the understanding has to travel.

Your child spends more waking hours at school than with any clinician. If the people there do not understand them, the plan stops at the school gate — not because anyone is unwilling, but because the understanding never travelled.

A teacher with thirty children cannot reconstruct a developmental profile from a diagnosis on a form. What helps is specific: this is how this child takes in an instruction, this is what happens just before the behaviour you are seeing, this is the one change that will make the difference.

So, with your consent, we share your child's profile and plan with their school and with the other professionals who see them — their teacher, their SENCO, their psychologist, their dentist, their GP. The aim is unglamorous and hard to achieve: one shared understanding of your child, held by everyone around them, instead of five partial ones that contradict each other.

What is shared
The profile and the plan, with the family's consent, in a form a teacher can act on.
Who with
Schools, teachers, teaching assistants, SEN and SEND staff, psychologists, doctors and other professionals working with the child.
Preparing for procedures
Where a child has to face something hard — a dental appointment, a blood test, a hearing test — the same profile tells the clinician what will make it tolerable.

Why it is a programme, not five products

These are not five things you buy separately. They are one loop, and each part exists because the next part needs it.

  1. The assessment establishes why your child is struggling — medical, neurological, developmental — before anyone recommends a strategy.
  2. The profile turns that into something measurable, area by area.
  3. The plan turns the profile into what to do on Monday morning.
  4. The app and BrainSprout put the plan in your hands on the days between appointments, and give your child their part of it in a form they will actually do.
  5. Their school and their other professionals get the same understanding you have.
  6. The reassessment measures what moved, and the plan is rewritten around the child your child has become.

That loop is the reason we can say what we said at the start. We are not trying to change your child. We are building the understanding, and the environment, in which their brain develops as well as it possibly can.
